What can the winter environment teach us about leading others?

Dick Chasse wanted to be a mountain guide ever since he was a teenager, growing up in Waterville, ME. After taking a leadership role in his high school outing club and job shadowing at a university outdoor program he began a career as professional mountain guide and outdoor educator. Dick has been guiding since 1998, building a diverse resume of experience taking him from ski guiding in Iceland, to managing logistics and risk in Mozambique, to sharing his love of Katahdin’s winter magic.

Our mission is to help people in rural places make human-powered outdoor sports an integral part of their lives and communities. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization.

The OSI Community is a peer-driven network of people who are -

  • Pursuing outdoor sports personally
  • Teaching and mentoring others outdoors
  • Building capacity for outdoor sports in their community

Through the OSI Community members can access online and in-person instruction, a growing online resource library, and a network of peers to connect with and share ideas.
